BIG SPRING, TEXAS – A news story published on abc13.com reports rhat three men were tragically killed in a severe West Texas accident. According to the report, the bus driver, a band director, and the driver of a second vehicle were all tragically killed in the crash. The school bus was carrying high school band members, the Texas Department of Public Safety reported on Saturday.

Andrews High School band director, a 53-year-old man, tragically succumbed to his injuries. According to the report, the bus crashed head-on with a pickup truck that was heading in the wrong direction along Interstate 20 in Big Spring, Texas.

According to Sergeant Justin Baker of the Texas Department of Public Safety, the fatal wrong-way accident injured two of the 25 high school students aboard the bus. They were transported to a Lubbock hospital. They were listed as in critical medical condition. Eleven other high school students were treated at a Big Springs hospital.

Sergeant Baker also stated that he had not received any updates concerning the students’ injuries. Sergeant Baker also reported that the pickup truck was heading west in the eastbound traffic lanes of Interstate 20 when it crashed head-on with the eastbound school bus and a second school bus. There were thankfully no accident-related injuries reported with the occupants on the second bus. The fatal accident is currently under investigation.

CLINTON COUNTY, OHIO – A news article published on fox19.com reports that drugs and/or alcohol intoxication are presumed to be factors that caused a deadly wrong-way accident. The fatal crash shut down I-71 Northbound in Clinton County, Ohio. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the agency’s troopers answered the accident call at around 12:45 in the morning last Monday. The wrong-way crash occurred near Wilmington Road.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, all I-71 Northbound traffic lanes in the area were closed until around 5 in the morning. The fatal wrong-way crash resulted in a 10-mile backup that extended all the way to Warren County’s Jeremiah Morrow Bridge.

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers reported that a Ford Escape was heading in the wrong direction and collided head-on with an International tractor-trailer truck. The Ford Escape driver was tragically pronounced deceased at the accident scene. His name was not released pending next-of-kin notification.

The International tractor-trailer truck driver, a 51-year-old man from Hanceville, Alabama, was transported to Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington. He reportedly sustained severe injuries.

Clinton County doesn’t have a wrong-way driver detection system. According to the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), the wrong-way driver detection system in Hamilton County is working well. Clinton County officials stated that they are monitoring and analyzing the issue.
